A 13-year-old riding a bike on his way to soccer practice was tragically killed on Sunday afternoon in the coastal city of Holon, as he was hit by a bus.
The lethal accident took place on Menachem Begin Street in the city, and Magen David Adom (MDA) medical crews who rushed to the scene were forced to pronounce his death. The bus driver was lightly wounded in the crash.
MDA on-call motorcycle medic Hadar Sa'ar who was at the scene said, "on the street was lying a bicyclist, a youth around 13-years-old who was unconscious with serious damage to multiple bodily systems."
"We tried to give him medical treatment but his wounds were very serious and we were left with no option but to pronounce his death at the scene. The bus driver was treated at the scene in light condition," said Sa'ar.
The crash was one of several traffic accidents on Sunday. On Shneer Street in Ashdod, an 84-year-old pedestrian was moderately wounded after being hit by a car. MDA teams evacuated her to Tel Hashomer Hospital.
In Kfar Saba, a man aged around 60 was moderately wounded after being hit by a motorcycle on Atir Yeda Street. He was evacuated to Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva suffering from a head injury.
In a fourth accident which took place in the late morning, a pedestrian was seriously wounded on Hahagana Boulevard in Haifa. He was evacuated to Rambam Hospital in the city.
