2-day ceasefire begins in 3 Syrian towns

A two-day ceasefire between warring sides in Syria came into force on Thursday in a rebel-held town near the border with Lebanon, and two Shi’ite villages in the northwest, the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said. It is the second ceasefire in a month in these areas between the Syrian army and the Lebanese group Hezbollah on one hand, and Syrian insurgents on the other. The ceasefire came into force at 6am (0300 GMT).
