Mordechai Rechtman, who turns 90 on May 16, will be honored with a gala concert on Friday, with the wind players of the Israel Symphony Orchestra Rishon LeZion on hand to perform works by Bach and Beethoven. The concert will take place, as part of the Friday Afternoon Chamber series, at Heichal Hatarbut in Rishon Lezion at 1:30 p.m.
Rechtman is an acclaimed bassoon player, arranger and conductor and members of the orchestra’s wind section will perform his arrangements of a number of works by Bach and Beethoven, including Bach’s Concerto No. 2 for keyboard arranged 4 bassoons, Bach’s Chorale – Preludes and Little Fugue arranged for 5 woodwind instruments, and a working of Beethoven’s Symphony No 4 in B-flat major op.60, for 10 woodwind instruments. Rechtman will be on the conductor’s dais for the occasion.
