AG closes Harpaz case against Mandelblit

Attorney-General Yehuda Weinstein on Wednesday closed the Harpaz Affair related investigation against Cabinet Secretary Avichai Mandelblit with no indictment.

Even as the case was closed, there was a public relations battle over why the case was closed, with Mandelblit’s lawyer Jacques Chen saying that Weinstein’s decision recognized the correctness of Mandelblit’s actions in the affair and did not say the words "closed for insufficient evidence," such that the case was closed on the basis of "no basis for suspicion."

Yet the detailed discussion of the reasons for why Weinstein closed the case included criticism of Mandelblit’s actions, of his allegedly changing aspects of his story and the words "no basis for suspicion" also do not appear.
