AG to PM: Appoint a new minister to oversee KKL-ILA split

Attorney-General Yehuda Weinstein’s office on Monday wrote a letter to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, via Cabinet Secretary Avichai Mandelblit, asking him to appoint a new minister to oversee an impending split between Keren Kayemeth LeIsrael Jewish National Fund (KKL) and the Israel Lands Administration (ILA.)

The letter, from Deputy-Attorney General for Legislative Affairs Dena Zilber on Weinstein’s behalf, recounted that KKL had previously announced it would decline to continue its long historic special contract with ILA.

Zilber said that the old arrangement legally expires in around six months and that the change will have massive policy implications on the country and a variety of economic sectors, such that a minister must be quickly appointed to oversee an interministerial committee which will manage the split.
