76 year-old educator and writer Richard Lakin has died from wounds sustained in the brutal knife and gun attack on a Jerusalem bus earlier this month, Hadassah Ein Kerem announced Tuesday morning.
Lakin spent an extensive period of time in the hospital's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) following the attack and underwent several operations for his wounds, which included a bullet wound to the head and stab wounds to the chest.
Two terrorists, one armed with a gun and another with a knife, boarded the 78 bus on October 13 and began attacking both passengers and the driver. One was shot dead and the other was shot and taken into custody.
Two Israelis were killed – Haim Habib, 78, and 51-year-old Alon Guverg – and seven wounded in the horrific attack. Habib's wife Shoshana was seriously wounded in the attack, and she is currently receiving treatment at Shaare Tzedek Hospital.
