Bibi’s Net Worth: $$11M; Bennett’s is $$8M

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's personal wealth is about NIS 42M, or $11M, making him the fourth-richest politician in Israel, and richer than US President Barack Obama, whose wealth is estimated at $5-7M, according to a Forbes report.

Netanyahu's wealth is mostly in real estate. He has a private home in Caesarea and another apartment on 'Aza street in Jerusalem. In addition, he and his wife Sara have partial ownership in homes that were received in inheritance, worth NIS 3-4M . 

One of these homes belonged to Bentzion Netanyahu, the prime minister's late father. The house, on Haportzim Street in the Katamon (Gonen) neighborhood in Jerusalem, is worth at least NIS 4M. The only heirs are believed to be Netanyahu and his brother, Iddo.

Sara Netanyahu received part of the home that was left behind by her father, Shmuel Ben Artzi, estimated to be worth close to NIS 2M. All in all, the couple's real estate holdings total about NIS 28-29M.

Barkat #1

Education Minister and Jewish Home Chairman Naftali Bennett is fifth in the Forbes list of richest politicians, with a worth of about $8M.

The list is topped by Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat, with an estimated worth of about NIS 450M, or $118M. In 1988, Barkat and his brother Eli, together with two other men, founded BRM, one of the first companies in the world to develop anti-virus software. The company went on to invest in other firms, including CheckPoint – an investment that yielded hundreds of millions of dollars.

In second place is MK Erel Margalit (Labor), with a net worth of NIS 220M. Margalit is trhe founder and chairman of JVP, a venture capital firm that manages over $900M in hi-tech investments.

In third place is Interior Minister Silvan Shalom, with NIS 150M – mostly thanks to his wife, Judy Nir Moses Shalom, who holds stock in Yedioth Aharonoth. She is a daughter of former Yedioth Aharonoth publisher and editor-in-chief, the late Noah Moses.

The new Environmental Protection Minister, Avi Gabbay (Kulanu), in in sixth place with NIS 25M. Yesh Atid's Yair Lapid is next with NIS 22M.
