Blair supports Olmert at sentencing hearing: commitment to peace should be admired.

Britain’s former Prime Minister, Tony Blair, came to the aid of Israel’s own disgraced premier, Ehud Olmert, penning a letter featured by Olmert’s defense team in court on Monday that lauded his character and called for his "efforts to bring peace" to be "admired."

Yet the British statesman’s own efforts to help vindicate his former colleague were to no avail.

In a dramatic decision, the Jerusalem District Court convicted former prime minister Ehud Olmert in the Talansky retrial reversing its earlier acquittal and giving his legacy yet another mortal blow following his prior conviction in the Holyland Affair.
