BREAKING: At Least 5 Dead At Hollywood, Florida Nursing Home After Hurricane Irma

At least five patients in a Hollywood nursing home died Wednesday morning after they fell ill in a building left without air conditioning after Irma blasted South Florida.

Hollywood authorities say an issue with an air-conditioning unit at The Rehabilitation Center at Hollywood Hills, 1200 N 35th Ave., has led to evacuation of over 100 people and the death of at least five residents.

Police in Hollywood say rescue crews were called to the nursing home just after 7:30 Wednesday morning. The fuse needed to maintain the air-conditioning unit was broken as Hurricane Irma passed through the area. Florida Light and Power has been called for several days to fix the issue, but crews have not yet been able to come to the sight.

According to Hollywood Fire Rescue and Police, 120 people were evacuated.
