Chief Rabbinate opens new circumcision service

The Chief Rabbinate announced on Wednesday that it is opening a new service to provide mohels, ritual circumcisers, to the general public who will not demand a fee.

The project is being launched as part of the rabbinate’s new B’noam rabbinical association which has been established, it says, to provide religious services in a welcoming and approachable manner.

The move comes against a background of several high profile struggles against the chief rabbinate by different groups who have sought to establish alternatives to the chief rabbinate’s services in the fields of marriage, kashrut and conversion.
