Christian schools, Education Ministry reach agreement to end strike

The Secretariat of Christian Schools in Israel announced on Sunday that is has reached an agreement with the Education Ministry to receive in part some of the funds cut in recent years and to end the strike of the 47 church schools that has been ongoing since the beginning of the school year.

All 33,000 pupils from these schools will return to their studies on Monday.

The Christian schools, defined as “Recognized but Unofficial and entitled to 75 percent funding of full state schools, have been on strike owing to the severe drop in funding for these schools by the Education Ministry in recent years to approximately 34% of state schools.
