Clashes between settlers and police reignite in Beit El

Clashes between settlers and police restarted in the West Bank settlement of Beit El on Tuesday evening over the state’s move earlier in the day to evacuate squatters who had barricaded themselves in a buildings slated for demolition. 

On Tuesday evening rioters threw stones and two settlers were lightly injured in the confrontation with the security forces. A settlers organization confirmed that one local resident had been arrested.

After the early morning evacuation, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu promised to work to authorize 24 illegal housing units in Beit El.
