Controversial settlement bill shelved over coalition infighting

The anticipated Knesset vote on a bill to retroactively legalize thousands of settler homes on private Palestinian property, including the Amona outpost, was pulled from Wednesday’s agenda following ongoing disputes within the coalition.

In response, Education Minister Naftali Bennett moved to block all coalition bills from going to a vote until the settlement bill is put back on the docket. This includes the controversial bill that would ban the Muslim call to prayer from being blared via loudspeaker before dawn, proposed by a member of Bennett’s own Bayit Yehudi party.
