Jazz greats Chick Corea and Bobby McFerrin will give four shows in Israel in July – their first joint concerts in Israel.
The two will perform at the Shuni Amphitheater near Binyamina, the Herzliya Zappa Club and the Live Park at Rishon Letzion. They will share a single piano onstage and give their versions of classical pieces, as well as Beatles songs, special arrangements of pop hits and their own jazz works. Tickets will range from 300 to 600 shekels, according to Israel Hayom.
Corea was scheduled to perform in Israel last summer, but the visit was cancelled because of Operation Protective Edge. Both Corea and McFerrin have performed in Israel in the past, but this will be the first time they perform together in the Jewish state – as part of their current world tour.
Corea, 74, is a jazz and fusion pianist, keyboardist, and composer, who has been nominated for 74 Grammy awards, and won 22 of them. McFerrin, 65, is a vocalist who received 10 Grammys. The two have maintained a longstanding cooperation that includes the successful 1992 album Play and The Mozart Sessions from 1996.
