Court upholds administrative detention of far-right activist Meir Ettinger

In a decision which guarantees continued controversy between the government and the country’s right wing activists, the Lod District Court upheld on Sunday the administrative detention order of Jewish settler activist Meir Ettinger.

Unless an expected appeal to the Supreme Court succeeds in striking the order, the original order issued by Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon on August 15 will now continue for a minimum of six months at which point it will be revisited.

Ya’alon has also administratively detained two other Jewish activists, Mordechai Mayer and Evyatar Slonim, in an unusual measure typically only used for some of the more serious Palestinian terrorists.
