Dissolving Druse battalion ‘is the right decision for integration,’ ex-Druse minister tells Post

The IDF’s decision on Monday to dissolve the 299 Druse infantry battalion is "the right decision that caters to the need of Druse youth to integrate into the IDF, and into society," a former Druse government minister told The Jerusalem Post on Tuesday.

Salah Tarif was the first non-Jewish minister in an Israeli government, who served under former prime minister Ariel Sharon from 2000 to 2002, as Minister of Minority Affairs.

He also served as an officer in the paratroopers brigade at the end of the 1970s.
