The European Union has strongly condemned a West Bank settler group for posting a video online that accuses the bloc’s ambassador to Israel of supporting terror.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the EU called the video “appalling” and said that “resorting to personal threats and slander can
never be justified.” The “Curbing Anderson” video by the Jerusalem Periphery Forum settler group accuses Ambassador Lars Faaborg-Anderson of undermining Israel’s sovereignty by funding temporary housing to Palestinians. It depicts Faaborg-Anderson wearing a facemask like the one worn by fictional serial killer Hannibal Lecter in the movie “Silence of the Lambs.” Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely said the government also opposed what she called illegal construction. But she quickly denounced the video, saying “personal criticism targeting the EU ambassador is unacceptable.”
