False Alarm: Sirens Sound in Northern Israel

Sirens sounded in communities across the lower and upper Galilee in northern Israeli at 16:38 Sunday afternoon.

According to the IDF, the sirens were the result of a technical malfunctions, not a genuine rocket attack.

Although Israel's northern borders have largely been quiet despite the unrest in Syria, several instances of "spillover" from the conflict have resulted in mortar shells and other projectiles being fired into Israel.

Most recently, two weeks ago residents communities in the Golan were forced into their shelters twice within a matter of minutes, after errant fire from fighting between rebels and pro-regime forces landed inside Israeli territory.
