Foreign workers in Israel employed under slave conditions?

State Comptroller Haim Shapira, in his annual report presented to Knesset speaker MK Yuli Edelstein Tuesday afternoon, raises deep concerns regarding the protection of foreign workers’ rights.

The authority over foreign workers is divided between the Economy Ministry and the Administration of Population, Immigration, and Border Crossing and, as such, a high level of cooperation is demanded of them in order to maintain the rights of these workers.

One of the emphases of the report is that no work procedure has been formulated to ensure a flow of information between the two offices and this has led, and will continue to lead, to infringements on the rights of foreign workers.
