One thousand Israelis flocked to Kiryat Shmona on Saturday night, to comfort the family and participate in the funeral of a 7 year-old boy run over Friday as he walked home from school.
Eyal Krause, a second-grader, had been walking home from school on Yekutial Adam street when the driver of a private vehicle struck him, causing a serious head injury. Magen David Adom (MDA) medics later declared him dead at the scene.
Eyal's parents, Naftali and Michal, made a heartbreaking plea to God during the funeral to give them the strength to continue on with their lives despite the tragedy.
"How can we say goodbye to our child?" Michal said. "I miss him, and it burns from deep within me."
"My little angel, you don't know how much I want to hug you," she continued. "My delicate and sensitive boy, thank you for teaching me to be more sensitive and to develop patience. It was so important to you to be a good boy, and you only wanted to make sure you didn't anger us."
"Please, God, give us the strength to endure this experience, because today we only see darkness," she concluded.
"He was a sweet boy with blue eyes," Naftali said. "[He was] a child that only wanted to be good and do good."
"Since Friday, our world has been turned upside down," he continued. "Eyal was taken from us too quickly and we just miss him."
"We ask from God to give us strength. . .Eyal, see how much you were loved and how much you deserved it."
