A 49-year-old woman was stabbed to death in her home in the Galilee village of Shibli on Saturday morning.
The woman was found with stab wounds to the upper body. She was taken to hospital in critical condition, but succumbed to her wounds on the way.
Police suspect her death was a murder, and her son is a suspect. A large police contingent searched for the man, in his thirties, and detained him in a neigboring village. He was taken in for questioning.
Residents of the Arab village gathered round on Saturday as Magen David Adom paramedics, who had been called to the scene, tried to take the victim to hospital. Police had to help emergency services get her out of the village and transfer her to Haemek Hospital, Afula.
Nati Liani, a Magen David Adom paramedic, said that when he arrived at the house, the family brought the paramedics to the room where the woman was located.
"We gave her medical treatment at the scene and then transferred her to Haemek Hospital, Afula, during the evacuation her condition worsened and we had to pronounce her death."
