The driver who fled the scene after striking and killing Hila Michali-Nahman last night (Tuesday) has turned himself in, Ynet reports.
Sixty-one-year-old Yossi Cohen, the owner of a car dealership, was brought before a court this afternoon. He is expected to be charged with manslaughter, abandoning the scene of a crime and obstruction of justice.
A confrontation broke out with Michali-Nahman's family at the courthouse. The relatives held pictures of her three children and yelled: “Murderer. How are you not ashamed to abandon her on the road? You left her out there with three children under a year old. There are three children who don't have a mother. He left them orphans. Scumbag, we'll chase you for the rest of your life.”
Cohen's lawyer says that her client did not notice that he hit someone and instead though that it was another driver who killed Michali-Nahman. He stopped, took several pictures, and drove off.
Michali-Nahman lost control of her car near Shoreshim Junction and hit a guardrail. After leaving the vehicle in order to check on her three children and mother, all of whom were in the car, she was hit by a passing car.
