IBA Journalists to hold emergency meeting to evaluate new scenarios in their status

Following the announcement on Monday that a special Knesset committee to be headed by Coalition Chairman MK Tzachi Hanegbi (Likud) will be appointed to deal with final legislation on the Public Broadcasting bill, the Jerusalem Journalists Association has announced an emergency meeting of Israel Broadcasting Authority journalists in the Romema quarters of the IBA this coming Wednesday.

The meeting is designed to examine all possible scenarios that could emanate from Hanegbi’s committee, but will be deferred in the event that Hanebi convenes a committee meeting on the same morning.

The appointment of a special committee was announced by MK David Biton, (Likud) chairman of the Knesset Committee which after debating the matter reached the conclusion that the amendment to the existing Public Broadcasting Law that was passed last year should be handled by a special committee.
