IDF names new head of Central Command as Maj.-Gen. Roni Numa

Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon approved on Sunday a series of senior appointments and a reshuffle within the IDF General Staff.

The appointments, made jointly by IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Benny Gantz and his incoming successor, Maj.-Gen. Gadi Eizenkot, will see the head of IDF Central Command, Maj.-Gen. Nitzan Alon, become the head of the Operations Branch, replacing Maj.-Gen. Yoav Har-Even, who has held that position for the past two-and-a-half years.

The IDF named the new head of the Central Command, which holds jurisdiction over Judea and Samaria, as Maj.-Gen. Roni Numa, who had been head of the IDF Depth Command, in charge of operations in distant arenas.
