Im Tirtzu Snubs JStreet

Grassroots student group Im Tirtzu has head has turned down an invitation to speak before a JStreet delegation visiting Israel.

Matan Peleg, CEO of Im Tirtzu, received a request by email last week from JStreet representatives in Israel, to give a lecture on the Israel-Palestinian conflict to members of the delegation.

Im Tirtzu declined the invitation on the grounds that it will not cooperate with organizations that promote the delegitimization of Israel.

"JStreet, which purports to be Zionist, effectively promotes the delegitimization of Israel as Jewish and democratic state, and feeds the BDS movement," said Peleg.

"Just recently, at a JStreet conference, Marcia Freedman, former member of Knesset, said that the State of Israel should become a state with an Arab majority, and was cheered by the crowd," Peleg noted. "In light of the increase in the delegitimization of Israel and the threat of an economic boycott of Israeli academia, we saw fit to refuse in the strongest possible terms any connection to an anti-Zionist lobby such as JStreet."

Arutz Sheva has requested JStreet's comment on the incident.
