Independent kashrut authority issuing new certificates to circumvent High Court ruling

In the latest round of the kashrut wars, Hashgacha Pratit, an independent kashrut supervision authority, is issuing a new supervision certificate for restaurants and businesses under its auspices to comply with a recent ruling by the High Court of Justice.

Until now, the organization, established in protest against alleged poor practices in the rabbinate’s kashrut service, has issued a supervision certificate which mentions the requirements of “Jewish law relating to food ingredients and preparation” but does not use the word “kosher.”
