Iran’s Rouhani: US ties better but "still a long road to travel"

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said on Friday that ties with the United States had improved, although there was “still a long road to travel” before the two estranged nations could have normal relations. “The situation has certainly changed,” Rouhani, in New York for the United Nations General Assembly, told a group of senior editors from

media organizations at a nearby hotel. “We can point to the tangibles, the many steps forward, but there is still a long road to travel.” He described the historic nuclear deal between Iran and the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Russia and China as a “big test” for U.S.-Iranian relations and said that it was important to create an atmosphere of trust.
