As Israel marks ten years since the start of the Second Lebanon War, its air force prepares to receive Lockheed Martin’s F-35 Lightening II fighter jet. Defense officials have said this fifth generation war plane will transform Israel’s combat capabilities. This would mean that the air force’s ability to deal with Hezbollah will soon improve significantly.
On Wednesday, Israel’s first F-35 jets will be unveiled at an unrolling ceremony at Lockheed’s production facility in Forth Worth, Texas. Senior Israel Air Force (IAF) officials and Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman will be present at the event.
