Israel looking forward to 2016 following Slovenia Davis Cup win

Israel’s quest to return to the Davis Cup World group enters a nine-month hiatus after the national team completed a 3-2 win over Slovenia at the Drive-In Arena in Tel Aviv on Sunday.

The blue-and-white had already wrapped up the victory and secured itself another year in Europe/Africa group on Saturday after taking an unassailable 3-0 lead. That allowed captain Eyal Ran to hand 18-year-old Ben Patael his singles debut in the competition on Sunday.

Patael teamed-up with Dudi Sela to win the doubles rubber on Saturday, but dropped to a 6-4, 4-6, 6-3 defeat to Aljaz Radinski on Sunday.
