Israel seeks solutions for 20 million tons of salt set to pile up annually

With 20 million tons of salt set to be harvested from a southern Dead Sea pool and dumped into the northern basin annually, the government is urging members of the public to propose alternative solutions for the massive amounts of sodium chloride.

The Interior Ministry’s Planning Authority has launched a crowdsourcing website – at – in which Israelis can voice their opinions as to how the salt can be used to benefit industry and the economy, until the end of January, the ministry said.
