‘Israeli Society Must Maintain its Unity’

Thousands of people participated on Tuesday evening in an event called “Shiru Achim” (lit. "sing brothers") held at the Ra'anana Amphitheater in memory of Naftali Frenkel, Gilad Sha’ar and Eyal Yifrah, the three teenage boys who were abducted and murdered by terrorists a year ago.

Speaking at the event were former IDF Chief of staff Benny Gantz, the American Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro, Rabbi Benny Lau and Ra'anana Mayor Zeev Bielski.

“I think that the State of Israel and society must find ways to strengthen its unity,” Gantz told Arutz Sheva. “We must find ways to stay together and I’m sure we will.”

Gantz added that he saw the unity among the people of Israel during those 18 days in which the search for the three boys continued. “We must find a way, other than in times of tragedy, to strengthen this unity,” he added.

Ambassador Shapiro told Arutz Sheva that the message he conveyed in the rally was that “the hearts of all Americans are also with the three families of Gilad, Eyal and Naftali and the Israeli people…that solidarity will remain.”
