Israelis have a ‘spirit unequaled anywhere else’

Mayor Martin Oliner of Lawrence, New York, met with Arutz Sheva at the 30th World Mizrachi Conference during his four-day visit to Israel, and spoke about the incredible visit he paid to wounded terror victims in the hospital.

Oliner met victims of an attack that took place two weeks ago, in which a terrorist employee of Bezeq first ran over passersby in the central Geula neighborhood of Jerusalem with his company car before getting out to start hacking and slashing with an axe and knife. One victim, Rabbi Yeshiyahu Krishevsky, was murdered in the attack.

The two wounded victims, one of whom was sent flying and the other who was wounded by the terrorist after he got out of the car and struck him with an axe, caused the mayor to be "more inspired than I have ever been in my entire life."

The victim who was flung in the air by the car had "his foot totally demolished," reported Oliner, but "all he could say was how fortunate he was."

The mayor came to give chizuk (strengthening) to the victims, but he ended up receiving it by witnessing their "complete commitment to G-d," that demonstrated "a spirit that is unequaled anywhere else in the world."
