As many American Jewish groups mobilize against the Iran deal, the liberal Israel advocacy organization J Street is launching a multimillion dollar media campaign in favor the nuclear agreement.
The first step of its national campaign is a 30-second advertisement “highlighting the unprecedented inspections and monitoring of Iran’s nuclear and military sites under the agreement,” J Street said.
The ad will air both this week and next week on US television. Commercials as well as prints ads will also run in national and state media markets over the next 60 days as Congress reviews the agreement.
As part of the campaign, J Street also plans to bring US and Israeli experts to brief US legislators and preeminent journalists on why the deal reached between Iran and P5+1 world powers is a good one.
J Street released a statement on Tuesday hailing the agreement as “meet[ing] the critical criteria for…a deal that verifiably blocks each of Iran’s pathways to a nuclear weapon.”
“We congratulate President Obama, Secretary Kerry and the other members of the P5+1 for having the resolve, determination, patience and persistence to bring such a difficult negotiation to a successful conclusion,” J Street added.
The group also urged Congress to accept the agreement with J Street President Jeremy Ben-Ami asserting "this deal makes the United States, Israel and the entire world safer, and it would be highly irresponsible for Congress to reject it.”
