Jerusalem bankers arrested for defrauding Holocaust survivor out of life savings

Following a protracted joint undercover investigation, two Jerusalem bankers were arrested Monday for allegedly defrauding an elderly female Holocaust survivor out of hundreds of thousands of shekels from her life savings, police announced Tuesday.

According to the Jerusalem District Police’s fraud unit, the investigation into the Benleumi bankers began over one month ago, after investigators were contacted by a concerned social worker caring for the 88-year-old victim in a nursing home.

“As soon as police received information that money that had been stolen from the elderly women, an investigation was opened and the two bank officials were arrested based on the evidence attained,” said Police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld on Tuesday.
