Jerusalem gay pride parade stabber deemed fit to stand trial

Police have determined that the man who killed 16-year-old Shira Banki and wounded five others during a stabbing rampage at the Jerusalem gay pride parade earlier this month is fit to stand trial.

Yishai Schlissel’s remand was extended five days on Thursday and he will be indicted at Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court next week. The indictment will include charges of murder and attempted murder.

In a hearing at the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, police presented their opinion on Schlissel’s sanity, which was endorsed by several doctors who found him fit to stand trial.
