Knesset passes bill increasing punishment for rock-throwers

Legislation increasing the penalty for throwing rocks at vehicles to up to 20 years in prison passed with resounding majority Monday evening.

The Knesset held the second and third (final) reading of the bill, after which it was voted into law by a margin of 69-17 in favor.

The new legislation amends the current law, which does not differentiate between levels of danger of rock-throwing, pointing out that throwing a large rock at a vehicle has more potential to be deadly than throwing small rocks at stationary soldiers.
