Lapid seeks NIS 700 pay boost for soldiers

Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid on Sunday called for increasing soldier pay by NIS 700 a month in several stages, and said it would demand such a policy as part of a coalition agreement following March’s elections.

"It can’t be that soldiers, fighters, who fought in Operation Protective Edge don’t have enough money to get through the month," Lapid said alongside several other party members outside the Kirya military base in Tel Aviv. "We will fight and raise the salary for soldiers in mandatory service in line with the minimum wage. It’s possible and it will happen, exactly as we transferred a billion shekels to Holocaust survivors and organized the summer school programs."
