Law enabling non-religious to refuse to work on day of rest passes preliminary hearing

The Knesset approved in a preliminary reading an amendment proposed by Yesh Atid MK Aliza Laive to the Law for Work and Rest Time that will grant non-religious employees the right to refuse to work on their day of rest.

Currently, an employers is able to demand that an employee who requests not to work on their day of rest to present a declaration that establishes his religious practices and his observance of the requirements of the religion.
