Lebanese sources: Hezbollah strike targeted senior IDF officer

Lebanese sources reported Thursday that Hezbollah’s cross-border strike on Wednesday was intended to hurt a senior IDF officer. They claimed the size of the convoy pointed to the fact that a high-ranking Israeli was present and thus the cell, which included no more than five militants, decided to open fire. The sources claimed that the operation was planned for earlier but was postponed. Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah’s speech, which had been planned for Sunday, was also delayed to Friday in coordination with the incident.
