Leftist Israeli singer Achinoam Nini railed against a rally supporting the IDF soldier being prosecuted for shooting dead a neutralized terrorist, calling him a "murderer."
"I cannot describe in words what I feel in light of this shocking rally," Nini stated on Facebook early Monday. "It's the end of the world."
"The son of us all? Not mine!!!" she continued. "I did not raise my children to murder."
The soldier has testified he shot over concerns that the terrorist – who minutes earlier with an accomplice stabbed and wounded a soldier – was moving to detonate a hidden bomb belt. Other soldiers at the scene, a Magen David Adom (MDA) investigative committee and a CID officer have all confirmed that concerns of a bomb belt had not been ruled out.
Late Sunday, former MK and noted journalist Sharon Gal announced a protest supporting the soldier, to be held Tuesday night, at Kikar Rabin at 7:30 pm. Several major Israeli music stars are joining him.
Nini is known for her extreme leftist views and has in the past consistently attacked Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
In recent months she made headlines over her boycott of Israeli singer Ariel Zilber due to his rightist views.
She recently announced her intention to quit the Israeli Union of Performing Artists (IUPA) following its decision to honor Zilber with a lifetime achievement award. And last year, when Zilber was due to win a lifetime achievement prize from ACUM (Union of Composers, Writers and Publishers in Israeli Music), Nini announced she would not accept a prize from ACUM so long as Zilber was being honored as well.
Ahinoam Nini sang Ave Maria (Hail Mary) at the Vatican in 1994 and performed there again in 2015.
