Likud MK: ‘Where are those babbling about isolation now?’

Likud MK Nava Boker on Monday responded to a letter sent by 83 out of 100 senators, urging US President Barack Obama to increase the annual military aid package to Israel from $3 billion when the current agreement ends in 2018.

"It would be better for all those babbling about international isolation to stop lying to the public," said Boker. "Once again it has been proven that there is no alternative to a policy that is Zionist, nationalist and sure of itself."

Pointing to an incident last March in which Obama lashed out at Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, she noted that when "Netanyahu traveled to the Congress to give a speech against the awful (nuclear) deal with Iran, many 'experts' here warned against the expected break in our ties with the US."

"Just this last Shabbat 'commentators' wrote that the Prime Minister's stubbornness not to sign on an aid agreement with President Obama is a mistake that we will pay for dearly," said Boker.

"And therefore today I am surprised, where are all those chatterboxes? What exactly were you frightening us about? Unfortunately, many in Israel are still soaked in an exile mentality according to which Israel must change itself according to the demands of its allies instead of according to the Israeli national interest."

Boker continued, stating, "the American support that is rare in its scope, as expressed today in the senators' letter, proves that the exile policy of 'act according to the will of the Polish landowners' would be best disappearing from the map of history."

"There is no alternative to a policy that is nationalist, Zionist, proud and sure of itself, that puts the emphasis on presenting the Israeli position in an uncompromising manner without fear."
