Police closed a major intersection in Tel Aviv on Thursday morning as they searched for a suspected terrorist.
Israel Radio reported that the Hashalom interchange on the Ayalon Highway had been closed as police search for the terrorist, who is believed to be driving west towards Tel Aviv from the direction of neighboring Givatayim.
The highway was reopened about a half hour later, but the search was still on, Israel Radio said. The search is currently centered on the Givatayim Mall, about an hour east of the highway.
Details were sketchy, but police have set up roadblocks on streets throughout the area. Israel Radio said that there were "details that we have been asked not to reveal at this time."
The intersection is one of Tel Aviv's busiest, as it is adjacent to the Azrieli Towers and mall, as well as the Kirya – the Ministry of Defense headquarters.
