German Chancellor Angela Merkel told President Reuven Rivlin on Tuesday that the reaching of a comprehensive agreement with Iran might prevent further development of Iran’s nuclear ability, which has advanced considerably over the last decade.
However, the current reality shows no promise of an agreement she said. She also reiterated Germany’s commitment to Israel’s safety and security.
Rivlin replied that if tougher sanctions were imposed on Iran, this likely be a more effective measure than the present situation. He also emphasized that if attacked, Israel reserved the right to defend herself to the best of her own ability.
