Military Police ‘searched for soldiers’ right-wing messages’

Military Police investigating soldiers from the ultra-Orthodox Netzah Yehuda Battalion searched for "right-wing" messages on their cellphones, a legal representation group said on Thursday.

The investigation is centering on a group of combat soldiers who are under arrest for allegedly striking a Palestinian security suspect in the bathroom of a base after he was arrested recently in Jenin.

According to Honenu, a legal aid organization that often represents Israelis suspected of far-right attacks, as well as soldiers, a "sad and shocking document" from the investigation shows that the Military Police had searched cellphones of soldiers for political statements.
