MK Miri Regev to Bennett: Stop Playing Games

MK Miri Regev (Likud) called on Jewish Home chairman Naftali Bennett to join the government on Tuesday, after talks stalled ahead of a 24-hour deadline.

"I call on Bennett to join the government immediately and allow the establishment of a nationalist government," Regev stated on her Facebook page. "It's time to start working and stop playing games."

"It is inconceivable that Bennett will be the one to prevent a nationalist and right-wing government," she added. "If we have to go to the polls, I have no doubt the medium and small parties will pay the price. Even the public is tired of the games against the party which won 30 seats."

The fate of the coalition rests in Jewish Home's hands on Tuesday, after Yisrael Beytenu chairman Avigdor Liberman announced that his party would refuse to join the government, leaving the coalition to a mere 61 MKs.

If Jewish Home signs a coalition deal, the government will consist of 61 MKs; analysts predict a highly unstable government. If Jewish Home refuses, it is likely to serve in the Opposition of a left-wing government headed by Labor leader Yitzhak Herzog.

Reports surfaced earlier Tuesday that Likud has rejected Bennett's last-minute push to take Liberman's place as Foreign Minister, and has instead offered him the Justice Ministry in place of the Education Ministry.
