The Israel Navy received a new commander for its submarine flotilla (Shayeted 7) this week.
The officer, who can only be named as Capt. D., officially took up his ceremony on Sunday, the navy said on Monday, and replaced Capt. G, who completes a four year term as submarine flotilla commander.
During a ceremony attended by navy chief V-Adm. Ram Rothberg, and the commander of the missile ships flotilla, Capt. Eyal Harel, senior navy commanders made reference to the large number of covert operations carried out by submarines in recent years.
