Netanyahu orders deployment of more troops to battle stone throwing

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday instructed Israeli security forces to increase their presence on Highway 443 and on roads in the West Bank, amid an increase in stone and firebomb throwing at Israeli vehicles driving to and inside Jerusalem. The prime minister held a meeting on the security situation in Jerusalem and on Highway 443, which leads to the capital. It was attended by Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon, Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan, Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz, Justice Minister Ayelet Shaked, Shin Ben chief Yoram Cohen.

Among the solutions under consideration are setting up security cameras and street lights all along Highway 443, as well as changing the rules of engagement.
