Netanyahu: Terror Attacks Prove Security is Key

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu opened his weekly Cabinet meeting Sunday by vowing to find the terrorist murderers responsible for the shooting attack Friday which killed 25 year-old Danny Gonen

"I wish to send condolences to the family of Danny Gonen of blessed memory, who was murdered by a despicable murderer," Netanyahu said. "I wish to send my best wishes too to Netanel Hadad for a speedy recovery."

"Right now, security forces are working diligently to find the murderer, of course, and to bring him to justice, to punish him with the utmost severity," Netanyahu continued. "The relative quiet in Judea and Samaria should not mislead anyone."

"There are always attempted attacks – unfortunately, some are successful," he added. "The reason that most of them usually don't succeed is very hard work from the IDF and the Shin Bet, along with others, on behalf of the State of Israel."

Netanyahu then noted that international powers have ignored the need for security in the area.

"There is a constant need to prevent these attacks, but in the international community's offers, which they are basically trying to impose on us, there is no reference to the real security needs of the State of Israel and our other national interests," he fired. "They are just trying to push us to indefensible borders, while completely ignoring what will happen on the other side of the border."

Netanyahu added that such a solution would, of course, ignite another war, and vowed that "we will not let that happen."

"The only way to achieve peace is through bilateral negotiations and we vehemently reject attempts to force us to adhere to international dictates, even for the sake of security and peace," he concluded. "Peace will only be achieved through direct negotiations between the parties, which will take account of our national interests – first and foremost security."
