Netanyahu weighs expelling Zoabi from Knesset

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu spoke Wednesday afternoon with Attorney General Avichai Mandelblit regarding the possible expulsion of Joint List MK Hanin Zoabi from the Knesset.

“With her actions and lies she crossed every line and she has no place in the Knesset,” Netanyahu said.

Earlier on Wednesday Zoabi caused an uproar on the Knesset floor when she claimed that Israel’s willingness to $20 million to a compensation fund for the families of Turkish terrorists killed while attacking IDF soldiers in 2010 validated her participation in the Gaza flotilla which attempting to run the security blockade on the Hamas regime.

Zoabi also said that the newly-signed reconciliation deal was a tacit admission of guilt by Israel, a “murder confession”.

As the Prime Minister weighs Zoabi’s removal from the Knesset, three complaints were filed in the Knesset’s Ethics Committee against the Joint List MK, calling for her suspension.

MK Amir Ohana (Likud) was the first to file a complaint against Zoabi.

“Hanin Zoabi has, and not for the first time, crossed the line separating legitimate free speech which can sometimes be painful, and incitement against IDF soldiers, whom she characterized as ‘murderers’,” wrote Ohana.

“This is depravity cannot go unanswered,” Ohana continued. “The Ethics Committee must put in place the harshest sanctions against Zoabi allowed by law, and to do so as quickly as possible to highlight the severity of this matter. And no less important: We will find a way to distance this terror supporter from the Knesset – and I expect my peers from all of the parties who condemned Zoabi’s incitement to join this effort and not to stop with mere condemnations.”

Nahman Shai (Yesh Atid) and Nava Boker (Likud) also filed complaints against Zoabi following her address.
