New umbrella organization seeks more transparency in public and civil service bodies

A new umbrella organization headed by former State Comptroller and retired judge Micha Lindenstrauss, met with President Reuven Rivlin on Tuesday to share ideas about greater transparency in government agencies, and public and civil service bodies, less corruption in business and government and greater recognition for people who often take risks in exposing corruption.

Known as the New Era Forum, the organization currently comprises nine organizations and associations that focus on different areas of transparency and corruption, but whose common denominator is a desire for integrity on the part of elected and appointed officials, and more responsible decisions on issues that affect the welfare and quality of life of the public.

Leaders of the Forum’s affiliates came together several months ago to establish the forum and in debating over who should stand at its head reached the unanimous decision that Lindenstrauss was the most suitable person.
